Man Killed in Gaviota Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101
Gaviota, California – A man died after being struck by a vehicle while entering a parked car in Gaviota on Thursday afternoon.
The fatal accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Highway 101 near Dos Pueblos Canyon, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
The man was entering a parked car on the southbound side of Highway 101 when he was struck by a passing vehicle.
Witnesses of the crash, among them a cardiologist and two electrical linemen, performed CPR and an AED on the victim before paramedics arrived.
Despite their efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene and is investigating the accident.
