Man Killed in Head-On Collision on Phelan Road in Phelan Identified

Phelan, California: Authorities identified the man who died over the weekend in a head-on collision in Phelan as 27-year-old Tommy Solis.

The Phelan man was involved in the crash around 8:15 p.m. Sunday on Phelan Road near Tumbleweed Road.

A 38-year-old Oak Hills woman also died, and another person sustained major injuries in the accident.

Investigators said Solis was driving a 2015 Subaru Forester west on Phelan Road, and the Oak Hills woman was driving a 2018 GMC Yukon heading west.

Authorities said for reasons still under investigation, the woman swerved across the roadway and her car hit Solis’ vehicle head-on.

Solis was pronounced dead at the scene. He is survived by his wife Patricia Solis and two young children.

The woman was taken to a hospital where she later died.

A passenger in the GMC was hospitalized with major injuries.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
