Man Killed in Highway 237 Crash in San Jose
San Jose, California: Authorities said a man died in a traffic collision that happened Saturday afternoon on Highway 237 in San Jose.
The wreck occurred at about 5:09 p.m. just west of North First Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Los Altos man was driving a 2004 Honda Civic in the far-left lane on the eastbound side of the highway.
The vehicle veered to the left and hit the center median. The force of the impact sent the car off to the right across all traffic lanes. The Honda went off the roadway and hit a concrete barrier on the edge of the road.
Officers said after hitting the barrier, the car again veered off to the left and collided with a Toyota Tundra.
The Honda struck the center median again and stopped in the roadway.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and transported the Honda driver to the hospital with major injuries. The man later died while receiving treatment.
The 52-year-old driver of the Toyota was not hurt.
CHP said drugs and alcohol were not believed to be contributing factors.
