Man Killed in Highway 97 Crash in Klamath County

Klamath County, Oregon: A man died, and two others were hospitalized after a head-on collision that occurred early Saturday morning on Highway 97 in Klamath County.

The Oregon State Police said the wreck took place at about 1:11 a.m. near milepost 264.

According to authorities, 26-year-old Ivan Allen Hood of Chiloquin was driving a black Chevy Tahoe northbound on the highway when, for unknown reasons, allowed the vehicle to cross into the southbound lane and collide head-on with a Freightliner Tanker.

Hood was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Freightliner, 38-year-old Zachary Adam Kerley of Winter Haven, Florida, and his passenger, 60-year-old Terry Lee Kerly of Bakersfield, California, were taken to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.

Authorities are investigating the collision.
