Man Killed in San Bernardino Crash on National Trails Highway

San Bernardino, California – A man died and a woman was airlifted with major injuries after a piece of construction equipment fell on their car in Oro Grande on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at around 7:15 a.m. on National Trails Highway, underneath the railroad bridge, near the entrance to Cal Portland.

Authorities say a large front loader with a backhoe fell off a semi truck’s trailer after hitting a bridge and landed on a car.

The vehicle continued before crashing into a tree.

A man in the car was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

Firefighters from the Victorville Fire Department who arrived at the scene transported a female occupant of the car to Victor Valley Global Medical Center before she was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
