Man Killed, Woman Injured in Highway 101 Crash in Buellton

Buellton, California: A man died, and a woman was hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision that happened Thursday afternoon in Buellton.

The wreck occurred at about 3:45 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 near Jonata Park Road.

The California Highway Patrol, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, and American Medical Response personnel responded to the scene.

A silver SUV with the driver as the sole occupant collided with a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck occupied by the driver and an adult female passenger.

The SUV went off the roadway and up an embankment.

The man driving the SUV died in the accident.

The female passenger of the pickup was freed from the wreckage and taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with moderate injuries.

The pickup driver refused medical care.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
