Man Pushing Bicycle Hit and Killed by Vehicle on Highway 99 in Modesto

Modesto, California: A man died after he was struck by a vehicle while pushing a bicycle across Highway 99 in Modesto, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The incident took place around 3:30 p.m. near Hatch Road.

Authorities said a man ran from the east shoulder of the highway to the center median while pushing a bicycle and moved directly into the path of a northbound Volvo sedan.

The man was struck by the car.

Emergency personnel transported the victim to the hospital where he later died.

The driver was not injured.

Investigators closed Highway 99 during the investigation.
