Man Hospitalized After Merced County Pedestrian Crash at Chicago and Ellen Avenues
Man Seriously Hurt in Pedestrian Accident in Merced County
Merced County, California: A man was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle Monday evening at an intersection in Merced County.
Authorities said the incident occurred at around 7:20 p.m. at Chicago Avenue and Ellen Avenue.
Police officers and medical personnel responded to the scene and found a 49-year-old man lying in the roadway after he was hit by a Ford.
The victim was offered medical aid at the scene and then taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators revealed that the driver of the Ford was heading north on Chicago, crossing Paradise Road, and turning right onto Ellen Avenue.
As the driver turned onto Ellen, the front of the Ford hit the pedestrian, crossing Ellen Avenue from east to west.
The Ford driver was not injured.
Police said drugs or alcohol were not thought to be factors in the crash.
