Man Seriously Injured in DUI Accident in Phoenix

Phoenix, Arizona: A man sustained serious injuries, and another was arrested after a DUI collision that happened early Saturday morning at an intersection in Phoenix.

According to Phoenix police, the incident occurred just after 1 a.m. at Central Avenue and Dobbins Road.

26-year-old Jesten Calderon Jimenez was driving his car east on Dobbins Road, as did another male driver of a second vehicle.

Authorities said the driver of the second car attempted to make a left turn onto Central Avenue and, at the same time, Jimenez tried to pass the car on his left. The cars ended up colliding.

The driver of the second vehicle sustained serious injuries. He was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Jimenez was arrested and booked on multiple charges, including aggravated assault and DUI.

An investigation is ongoing.
