Man Speeding on Dirt Bike Collides with Car, Dies in University Heights, San Diego
San Diego, California: A 31-year-old man died after his dirt bike collided with an SUV Thursday evening near an intersection in San Diego’s University Heights.
The wreck occurred around 8:16 p.m. near Governor Drive and Erlanger Street.
Police said the man was riding a 2018 KTM dirt bike on Governor at a high rate of speed with no lights on in a dark area. At the same time, a 66-year-old woman was driving a silver 2005 Lexus SUV west on Governor when she turned left onto Erlanger in front of the dirt bike.
The motorcycle crashed into the Lexus, ejecting the rider.
The man was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said intoxication was not considered a contributing factor.
An investigation is ongoing.
