Maria Aguerralde Killed in Hanford Car Crash on Highway 138
Kings County, California – A woman was killed in a crash involving a suspected DUI driver on Sunday morning near Hanford in Kings County.
The fatal crash happened at around 11:30 a.m. on Highway 138 near 27th Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
65-year-old Mariano Najar Martinez of Huron was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado westbound in the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 driven by 82-year-old Maria Aguerralde of Huron.
Aguerralde died at the scene.
53-year-old Julia Mendoza of Huron was riding in the 1998 Chevrolet and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Najar Martinez was airlifted to the hospital for treatment before being placed under arrest on suspicion of DUI.
