Martin Gutierrez Killed in Indio Car Crash on Indio Springs Parkway

Indio, California – 53-year-old Martin Gutierrez has been identified by the Riverside County coroner’s office as the man who died in a car crash on Tuesday evening in Indio.

The fatal crash happened on Indio Springs Parkway near Golf Center Parkway at around 9:45 p.m., according to the Indio Police Department.

A white GMC pickup truck was traveling west on Indio Springs Parkway when it drifted into the opposite lanes and collided head-on with a white Saturn Sudan driven by Gutierrez.

Gutierrez and a passenger had to be extricated from one of the cars.

Gutierrez was transported to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio where he died.

The pickup truck driver, 36-year-old Alexander Frank Ortega, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
