Matthew Bowen Killed in Motorcycle Crash with Vehicle on Leisure Town Road and Orange Drive
Vacaville, California – The California Highway Patrol has identified the police officer killed in a traffic collision on Thursday morning as 32-year-old Matthew Bowen.
The fatal collision happened on Leisure Town Road and Orange Drive.
Police said Bowen was riding a motorcycle northbound on Leisure Town Road when he began a traffic stop.
The officer was then hit by a vehicle operated by 24-year-old Serena C. J. Rodriguez of Auburn. for unknown reasons. Three other cars were also involved in the accident.
Officer Bowen was taken to Kaiser Vacaville Medical Center where he later died.
Rodriguez was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail on charges of DUI and homicide causing injury or death.
An investigation is underway.
