Maurice Maldonado Dies After Madera Truck Crash on Avenue 12 and Road 35

Madera, California (April 29, 2023) – The Madera County Coroner’s Office has identified 34-year-old Maurice Anastacio Maldonado of Fresno as the man killed in a truck accident last Friday in Madera County.

The deadly collision occurred on Avenue 12 and Road 35 on April 21 at about 9:15 p.m.

According to police, Maldonado was driving a 2016 Honda east on Avenue 12 when he did not slow down for a 2017 Ford truck trying to turn left from eastbound Avenue 12 onto Road 35.

Maldonadoto was thrown out of the Honda following the collision. He was declared dead at the accident location. 

A passenger in the Honda, identified only as a 29-year-old Fresno woman, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

53-year-old Jesus Gonzalez Cardenas from Gilroy operated the truck.

Two truck passengers, a 56-year-old woman and an 88-year-old woman from Gilroy, were transported to Saint Agnes Medical Center to treat minor injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
