Miguel Bernardino Dies After Motorcycle Crash on 580 Freeway

Livermore, California – 27-year-old Miguel Bernardino of Merced has been identified as the rider killed in a collision Thursday last week, according to the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau.

The accident happened at around 5:40 a.m. on June 13, on westbound 580 near the North Livermore Avenue off-ramp.

Police said Bernardino was riding his motorcycle quickly between lanes and was trying to ride in between a big rig and a sedan. He then lost control of his bike and he was ejected onto the freeway just in front of the semi.

The semi then ran over him and he was declared dead at the crash site.

The truck driver remained at the scene and was cooperative.

Authorities issued a SigAlert blocking down several lanes and causing traffic delays in the area.

An investigation is ongoing.
