Mother and Son Involved in Fatal Kerman Car Crash

Kerman, California: The California Highway Patrol said a mother died and her son was hospitalized after their car was struck by a big rig Friday morning in Kerman.

The wreck took place at about 5 a.m. at Manning Avenue and McMullin Grade.

CHP said a 21-year-old man was driving a car when he reportedly ran a stop sign at the intersection.

The vehicle was struck by a big rig.

The driver’s mother was a passenger in the car and died in the accident.

The 21-year-old driver was hospitalized with moderate to major injuries.

The tank of the commercial vehicle ruptured, but the driver was not hurt, authorities said.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
