Mother Killed, Child Critically Injured in Manchester Square DUI Crash
Los Angeles, California: A mother died, and her daughter was critically injured after they were struck by a car involved in a collision on Thanksgiving Day in Manchester Square.
The collision occurred around 1:30 p.m. near a bus stop next to the corner of W. 83rd Street and S. Western Avenue.
Police said the incident started when a car going southbound hit another vehicle pulling out of a parking lot next to a liquor store.
One of the vehicles went off the roadway onto a sidewalk and eventually hit a pole and a bus bench.
A mother and her 8-year-old daughter waiting in the area were also struck.
The mother died, and the child was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver who is believed to have caused the collision was also hospitalized in critical condition. Police believe he was driving while under the influence and speed may also have contributed to the crash. The driver was put under arrest.
