Motorcyclist Injured in Leavenworth Crash on U.S. Hwy 2 ID’d

Leavenworth, Washington: 58-year-old Steven Kowalczik of Kent was airlifted to a hospital after colliding with a car while riding a motorcycle Saturday afternoon in Leavenworth.

According to the Washington State Patrolthe collision occurred around 4:15 p.m. on U.S. Highway 2.

Kowalczik was riding a 2015 Triumph Tiger motorcycle when he emerged from a private road and headed westbound in the eastbound lanes of the highway before he was hit by a 2000 Honda Accord.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with unspecified injuries.

The driver of the Accord, 36-year-old Steven Perez of Wenatchee, was not injured. Authorities said drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash and Perez could face vehicular assault charges.
