Motorcyclist Killed in Fullerton Crash at Orangethorpe Ave and Gilbert St Identified
Fullerton, California: Authorities identified the motorcyclist who died in a motorcycle accident involving a DUI driver Wednesday night in Fullerton as 28-year-old Alexander Marce.
The Anaheim resident died in a crash that happened around 9:45 p.m. at Orangethorpe Avenue and Gilbert Street.
Authorities said Marce was riding a Harley-Davidson on Orangethorpe when he stopped for a red light at the intersection with Gilbert.
44-year-old Francisco Garcia-Vargas of Fullerton was driving a BMW east on Orangethorpe when he ran the red light and rear-ended Marce’s bike.
Marce was thrown from the motorcycle into the east of the intersection.
The BMW dragged the motorcycle under the front of the car, and bystanders kept the driver from fleeing the scene.
First responders pronounced Marce dead at the scene.
Police officers arrested Garcia-Vargas on suspicion of driving without a license, felony driving under the influence, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
Authorities said another collision occurred at the scene during the investigation. Around midnight, a patrol vehicle was blocking traffic lanes with its emergency lights on and flares placed in the roadway when a Tesla crashed into it.
The patrol car was not occupied at the time of the collision. The investigators were able to avoid the crash.
The driver of the Tesla told authorities that he had engaged the vehicle’s ‘self drive’ mode while he used his cell phone. The driver was not injured.
Police officers are investigating the collision.

Imperial, California: One person was severely injured in a big rig crash that occurred early Friday morning at an intersection in Imperial.
The wreck was reported around 2:46 a.m. on southbound State Route 111 at East Aten Road.
A 2023 Dodge Charger crashed into the back of a big rig under unclear circumstances.
One person was seriously injured in the accident.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision.

Menifee, California – One driver died following a semi-truck accident on Wednesday night in Menifee.
According to the Menifee Police Department, the crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. on October 9.
Police confirmed a pickup truck and semi-truck collided for unknown reasons.
The pickup driver was transported to the hospital where he died.
No one else was injured in the collision.
An investigation is ongoing.

Los Angeles, California – Eight persons sustained injuries after a vehicle slammed into a coffee shop on Thursday afternoon in Tarzana, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The collision occurred in the 18660 block of W. Ventura Boulevard at Yolanda Avenue.
Police said a vehicle collided into the coffee shop for unknown reasons.
The LAFD’s Urban and Search Rescue crew responded to the crash site. Seven persons were treated for minor injuries due to the collision.
The female driver, 60 years, also sustained minor injuries due to the accident.
Further information concerning this crash was not provided.
The incident remains under investigation.
