Yigit Tobkey was Reportedly Hit by Several Vehicles Wednesday Night near Graciosa Road
Motorcyclist Killed in Highway 1 Crash near Santa Maria Identified
Santa Maria, California: The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office identified the motorcyclist who died Wednesday night in a crash on Highway 1 near Santa Maria as 31-year-old Yigit Tobkey.
The Lompoc man was involved in the collision around 9:23 p.m. just south of Graciosa Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol – Santa Maria Office, their officers received a call about a pedestrian involved in a crash on southbound Highway 1. The officers responded to the scene and found multiple vehicles and a motorcycle on the southbound shoulder.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Tobkey was riding the motorcycle when he lost control and went off the roadway. He then became stationary in the southbound lane of the highway and got hit by several oncoming vehicles.
Tobkey was pronounced dead at the scene by American Medical Response paramedics.
Witnesses told officers that the victim was possibly hit by several other vehicles that left the scene.
The accident happened when the weather was foggy and visibility limited. However, investigators did not immediately determine the cause of the collision.
