Motorcyclist Killed in Highway 47 Crash in Portland

Portland, Oregon: 44-year-old Chris William Garfield died after his motorcycle collided with a car Sunday afternoon at an intersection near Forest Grove.

According to investigators, Garfield was riding his motorcycle on Highway 47 with a minor girl as his pillion passenger.

A 70-year-old Beaverton woman driving a Toyota turned left from Spring Hill Road onto Highway 47 directly into the path of Garfield.

Garfield’s motorcycle crashed into the side of the car.

Garfield was pronounced dead at the scene.

The minor girl was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

The Toyota driver was not injured.

The Oregon State Police, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation responded to the scene.

Highway 47 at SW Spring Hill Road remained closed for three hours during the investigation.
