Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Collision at Washington Street and 3rd Avenue in Hillcrest

Hillcrest, California – A motorcyclist, sustained severe injuries on Wednesday afternoon after colliding with a vehicle in Hillcrest.

According to the authorities, the accident occurred at around 4:30 a.m. at Washington Street and 3rd Avenue.

The San Diego Police Department said a 48-year-old man was driving a black 206 GMC Sierra truck heading west on the 300 block on Washington Street approaching the intersection.

At the same time, a 26-year-old man was riding a 2010 Aprilia RSV4 sport motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Washington Street, also approaching the intersection.

The truck driver entered the intersection facing a green traffic light and made a turn onto 3rd Avenue.

Police said the motorcyclist unsafely passed vehicles along the right shoulder and entered the intersection, slamming into a side of the turning truck.

Alcohol and drugs appeared to be a factor in the crash.
