Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Collision at Washington Street and 3rd Avenue in Hillcrest

Hillcrest, California – A motorcyclist sustained severe injuries after colliding with a vehicle in Hillcrest on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the authorities, the accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. in the area of Washington Street and 3rd Avenue.

San Diego Police Department said a 48-year-old man was driving a black 206 GMC Sierra truck westbound on Washington Street approaching the intersection.

At the same time, a 26-year-old man was riding a 2010 Aprilia RSV4 sport motorcycle eastbound on Washington Street, also approaching the intersection.

The truck driver entered the intersection and made a turn onto 3rd Avenue, striking the rider.

The motorcyclist sustained a skull fracture and a brain bleed and was rushed to hospital by first responders.

Alcohol and drugs appeared to be a factor in the crash, according to the police.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
