14 People Hurt in Oakland Bus Accident at International Boulevard and 54th Avenue
Multiple Injured in Crash Involving AC Transit Bus in Oakland
Oakland, California: Fourteen people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision involving an AC Transit bus that happened Friday evening near an intersection in Oakland.
According to the Oakland Fire Department, the accident took place around 5:15 p.m. at International Boulevard and 54th Avenue.
A Chrysler 300 sedan was southbound on International Boulevard when it collided with a Toyota Prius as it attempted to make a left turn onto 54th Avenue.
The Chrysler went out of control, crossed a raised center median, and into the dedicated bus lane where it collided with the AC Transit bus.
The bus had twelve people on board, including the driver at the time of the collision.
Fourteen people, including the drivers of the Chrysler and the Toyota, were injured. Two of the victims were listed in critical condition.
Authorities are investigating the accident.
The number of patients needing medical aid or transport at 54th & International Blvd is now 14. Occupants from all three of the vehicles involved (including the bus) suffered varying levels of injuries.
