Off-Duty Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Dies in Motorcycle Accident

Riverside, California: Deputy Andrew Davidson, 23, of Riverside, died after he collided with a car while riding his motorcycle Monday morning near a Riverside intersection, the Riverside Police Department reported.

Davidson was off duty when the accident occurred at about 8:40 a.m. on Van Burren Boulevard, near California Avenue.

Police said the deputy was riding his 2020 Yamaha northbound on Van Burren in the no. 2 lane when he collided with a 2007 Toyota Camry being driven by a 66-year-old Riverside man.

Davidson got ejected from his bike in the crash. The motorcyclist caught fire, but bystanders extinguished the flames.

Davison was rushed to a hospital but died within an hour.

The car driver was taken to a separate hospital with minor injuries.

Davidson was hired in March 2022 and was assigned to the Perris station, authorities said.
