Levi King Identified as Victim of Chino Hills Crash on 71 Freeway near Euclid Avenue
One of Two Workers Killed in Pedestrian Crash on 71 Freeway near Chino Hills Identified
Chino Hills, California: The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner identified one of the Caltrans contracted workers who died in a pedestrian accident involving a box truck that happened Monday morning near the border of Chino Hills and Chino.
54-year-old Levi King, of San Bernardino, died at the scene of the accident that happened on the northbound 71 Freeway near Euclid Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, eight Caltrans contracted workers were working for the non-profit group Chrysalis, which provides job assistance for people trying to find employment.
The white van that the workers arrived in was parked on the shoulder when a box truck sideswiped it, causing the driver to lose control and go over the embankment, where it hit at least two of the workers.
The collision occurred around 8:37 a.m.
King was one of the victims and was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:44 a.m.
The other victim, only identified as a 36-year-old man, was taken to Pomona Valley Medical Center with serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead while receiving treatment.
