One Person Seriously Injured in Traffic Collision on SR-99 in Fresno

Fresno, California: One person was seriously hurt in a car accident that happened early Monday morning on State Route 99 in Fresno, the California Highway Patrol said.

Two vehicles collided around midnight in the northbound lanes of the highway at the Olive Avenue off-ramp.

A black pickup truck and a gray sports vehicle were involved in the accident. One of the cars hit a concrete barrier causing concrete debris to spread all over traffic lanes. Several other vehicles crashed into the debris on the roadway.

The vehicles involved in the initial collision were blocking the fast lane, and the vehicles that hit the debris stopped on the right shoulder.

One person was possibly trapped inside their car.

Firefighters and other emergency medical services personnel responded to the scene.

One person was transported to Community Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

CHP officers are investigating the accident.
