29-Year-Old Man Seriously Injured in Phoenix DUI Accident on State Route 143
One Person Seriously Injured in Wrong-Way Collision on SR-143 in East Phoenix
Phoenix, Arizona: A 29-year-old man was seriously injured in a wrong-way collision involving a DUI suspect that happened early Tuesday morning in east Phoenix.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the wreck was reported just after midnight on southbound State Route 143 near McDowell Road.
A preliminary investigation showed that a 60-year-old woman was driving a car northbound in the southbound lanes when she collided with a 29-year-old man driving a vehicle southbound.
The man sustained life-threatening injuries.
The woman was hospitalized with less serious injuries. Police said they would arrest the driver on several charges once released from the hospital, including aggravated DUI, aggravated assault, criminal damage, and endangerment.
