Pedestrian Critically Hurt in Crash at East 3rd and Mangrove Avenues in Chico
Chico, California: A pedestrian was struck and critically injured by a vehicle Monday afternoon at an intersection in Chico, the Chico Police Department said.
Police officers responded to East 3rd Avenue and Mangrove Avenue around 2:46 p.m. after they were notified about a pedestrian versus car crash.
The officers found the pedestrian with major injuries. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene to transport the victim to the hospital.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the car veered into oncoming lane of traffic and then hit the pedestrian. The car also hit a traffic signal before coming to a stop in front of a nearby business.
The driver stopped and remained at the scene.
