Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Garbage Truck in Phoenix
Phoenix, Arizona: 21-year-old Orianna Nicole Diosdado died in a pedestrian accident involving a Phoenix sanitation truck Thursday afternoon at an intersection in the city.
Phoenix police said the accident took place around 3:30 p.m. at 19th Avenue and Union Hills Drive.
Police responded to the intersection after receiving reports of the accident and found Diosdado with serious injuries.
According to investigators, Diosdado was walking northbound in a marked crosswalk at the corner when she was hit by a Phoenix City garbage truck that made a right-hand turn onto Union Hills Drive from northbound 19th Avenue.
Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The driver stopped and remained at the scene.
Drugs and alcohol were not suspected to be contributing factors.
