Phoenix Police Officer Hurt After DUI Suspect Rear-Ends Patrol Car

Phoenix, Arizona: A Phoenix police officer was hospitalized after a DUI suspect rear-ended a patrol vehicle early Wednesday morning near an intersection in Phoenix.

The accident happened just before 2:30 a.m. near 7th Avenue and Watkins Street.

Authorities said the police officer was transporting a woman to jail when they stopped at a red light near the intersection.

A woman suspected of driving while impaired rear-ended the patrol vehicle.

The officer and the woman in the patrol car sustained injuries not considered serious. They were hospitalized as a precaution.

The driver of the other car was given a sobriety test at the scene, cited, and later released.
