Pickup Truck Driver Collides with Tractor, Dies on Kimberlina Rd in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, California: One person died in a crash involving a tractor that happened Saturday near Wasco.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred around 7:30 a.m. when the weather was foggy in the area of Kimberlina Road and Root Avenue.

Investigators said the driver of a GMC Sierra pickup truck was traveling at an unsafe speed for the prevailing weather conditions eastbound on Kimberlina Road when he collided with a John Deere tractor pulling agricultural equipment heading southbound across Kimberlina Road.

The pickup truck hit the right side of the equipment.

Kern County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and extricated the driver of the pickup truck then rushed them to Kern Medical Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The driver of the tractor was not injured.

An investigation is ongoing.
