Police Investigating Deadly Newport Beach Crash on PCH

Newport Beach, California: One person died, and another was hospitalized after two vehicles collided Wednesday morning at an intersection in Newport Beach.

According to the Newport Beach Police Department, several people called 911 reporting a crash on Pacific Coast Highway at Crystal Cove at around 10:15 a.m.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found a white sedan and a truck involved in the accident.

Both drivers were taken to a hospital, where the sedan driver died from their injuries.

The other motorist remained in an unknown condition.

Investigators were still at the scene as of 4 p.m., Wednesday, and eastbound PCH was expected to remain shut down between Newport Coast Drive and Crystal Drive for several more hours. Only one westbound lane was operational in the afternoon.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
