Police Officer Hospitalized After Crash in Southeast Fresno

Fresno, California: A Fresno police officer was injured in a traffic collision that happened Wednesday morning at an intersection in the city.

The collision occurred around 7:45 a.m. at Peach Avenue and Cesar Chavez Boulevard.

Authorities said a student resource officer was responding with his emergency lights and siren activated to a school to assist another officer.

The officer was traveling south on Peach Avenue. While he was clearing the intersection with Cesar Chavez Boulevard, all motorists traveling eastbound came to a stop and yielded to the patrol car.

At that time, the officer collided with a green pickup truck. The truck veered and collided with another car traveling northbound on Peach Avenue which then crashed into a fourth vehicle.

The officer was hospitalized with a possible broken wrist.

The truck driver was also hospitalized with a possible rib injury.

A passenger in the truck was reportedly not hurt.

Authorities are investigating the collision.
