Puyallup Woman Killed in Auburn Motorcycle Collision on SR-167

Auburn, Washington: 51-year-old Katherine Washburn died after her motorcycle was rear-ended by a pickup truck Thursday evening in Auburn, Washington State Patrol said.

According to authorities, the Puyallup woman was riding a motorcycle on southbound State Route 167 near the State Route 18 interchange when she slowed for traffic.

A man driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck behind her did not slow in time and hit the motorcyclist.

Washburn reportedly ended up under the pickup.

First responders pronounced her dead at the scene. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

According to authorities, the 39-year-old man driving the pickup truck was not injured.

Speed, following too closely, and driver inattention are being investigated as factors contributing to the accident.

SR-167 was partially shut down for three and a half hours as troopers investigated.
