Ray Benicki Identified as Man Killed in Crash on O’Byrnes Ferry Road

Copperopolis, California – Police have identified the male rider killed in a traffic collision earlier this month in Copperopolis, according to the California Highway Patrol.

55-year-old Ray Benicki of Jamestown died in the crash that happened on O’Byrnes Ferry Road near Pyle Road at around 9:30 a.m. on July 2.

Officers said Benicki was heading northbound on O’Byrnes Ferry Road in a 2017 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle when he attempted to pass another car and crashed head-on into an approaching 2016 Ford F-250 towing a travel trailer.

The motorcycle was pinned underneath the Ford following the crash.

Benicki was declared dead at the crash site.

No additional details regarding this incident were released.

The incident remains under investigation.
