Rider Dies in Bakersfield Crash on Panama Road

Bakersfield, California: A motorcyclist was killed in a rear-end collision that happened Sunday afternoon in Bakersfield, police said.

The motorcyclist rear-ended a truck just after 1 p.m. on Panama Road just east of Fairfax Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old man was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle behind a GMC truck when the driver of the truck began to slow down for a crash which had just occurred ahead.

As the truck slowed down before reaching the crash scene, the motorcyclist failed to slow down on time and crashed into the rear of the truck.

The rider was thrown from the bike onto the roadway.

The motorcyclist suffered severe injuries and died at the scene.

Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be contributing factors.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
