Rodger Watkins Killed in Long Beach Crash at Atlantic Avenue and Anaheim Street

Long Beach, California – Rodger Lee Watkins, 60, was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Tuesday night in Long Beach.

The fatal collision happened around 11:50 p.m. at Atlantic Avenue and Anaheim Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

A 2012 Lexus IS250 was traveling north on Atlantic when it broadsided a 2012 Ford Focus traveling east on Anaheim.

The impact of the collision caused the Ford to hit a traffic signal light and an abandoned building while the Lexus hit a bus bench at the intersection.

Watkins, a resident of Long Beach, was trapped inside the Ford Focus and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
