Santa Monica Police Department Officer Injured in Alleged DUI Crash

Santa Monica, California: A Santa Monica Traffic Services officer was injured after being hit by a suspected DUI driver Wednesday afternoon.

The Santa Monica Police Department said their patrol officers responded to Yale Street and Santa Monica Boulevard after receiving reports of a collision with injuries involving an officer.

The responders found an SMPD Traffic Services Officer had been ejected from her scooter after colliding with a black Audi.

The officer was taken to a local hospital and remained in stable condition.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the Audi was traveling westbound on Santa Monica Boulevard when it hit the scooter as it crossed the intersection at a green light.

Investigators did a DUI exam on the Audi driver for suspected drug use. The motorist was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence.
