Scooter Rider Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries in San Diego Crash

San Diego, California: A 66-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a car while riding a scooter Tuesday night in San Diego’s East Village neighborhood.

The incident happened at around 10:40 p.m. at 14th Street and Market Street.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the woman was riding a scooter south at 600 14th Street when she entered the western crosswalk against a red light.

At the same time, a 36-year-old man was driving a 2020 Acura ILX eastbound on Market Street and entered the intersection on a green light.

The car hit the scooter rider in the crosswalk.

The woman was rushed to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are investigating the collision.
