Seal Beach Officer Injured in Traffic Collision

Seal Beach, California: A Seal Beach police officer was hospitalized after a collision involving a patrol car and a civilian vehicle Friday afternoon in Seal Beach.

The Seal Beach Police Department said one of their officers was responding to an emergency medical call with lights and sirens activated when, at around 12:16 p.m., the patrol vehicle was hit by another car.

The collision happened at Seal Beach Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway.

Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority responded and took the officer to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer was treated and released from the hospital later in the day.

The other driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Investigators did not immediately determine the cause of the accident.

The investigation is being conducted by Cypress police detectives with assistance from the Los Alamitos Police Department.
