Several People Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 1 near Lompoc

Lompoc, California: Six people were injured, three critically, in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Thursday afternoon near Lompoc.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the accident occurred around 5 p.m. on Highway 1 near the Santa Lucia Canyon Road off-ramp.

Authorities said four vehicles were involved in the crash. One vehicle reportedly caught fire after the accident.

Firefighters responded to the scene and found one person trapped in the wreckage and in need of extrication.

Six people were injured in the crash. Three of them were listed as critical, one suffered moderate injuries, and two sustained minor injuries.

One air ambulance and at least three ground ambulances were dispatched to the scene to offer medical transportation.

A Calstar medical helicopter airlifted one critically injured patient to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Four other patients were transported by ground ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.

Another patient was taken to Lompoc Valley Medical Center.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
