Teen Bicyclist Hit and Seriously Injured by Truck in West Point

Calaveras County, California: A 15-year-old boy was hit and seriously injured by a truck as he rode his bicycle Thursday last week on Highway 26 in West Point.

According to the California Highway Patrol – San Andrea area office, the accident happened at about 5:30 p.m. on June 15, west of Niderost Lane.

Authorities said the boy was riding a bicycle on a curve in the highway when a truck hit him under unclear circumstances.

First responders found the teen cyclist from West Point lying in the roadway with major injuries.

The boy was flown to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.

54-year-old Todd Cardoso from Sacramento was driving the truck and was not injured.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have contributed to the accident.

An investigation is still ongoing.
