Teenage Girl Hit and Critically Injured by Car in Kent
Kent, Washington: A 17-year-old girl was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition after being hit by a car Thursday morning near an intersection in Kent.
According to the Kent Police Department, the incident was reported around 7:20 a.m. in the 23400 block of 116th Avenue Southeast near Southbound 234th Street.
The girl was crossing the street in a crosswalk while riding a scooter when she was hit by a car. She was thrown by the force of the impact into the side of another vehicle that was stopped in the opposite lane.
Emergency personnel requested a helicopter to airlift the patient to the hospital. The teen was hospitalized at Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. Authorities said she was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The 49-year-old Kent woman driving the car stopped and cooperated with investigators.
Police do not believe alcohol or drugs contributed to the collision.
