Trudy Slanger Killed in Lynnwood Car Crash at SR 525 and 148th Street

Lynnwood, Washington – Trudy Slanger, 83, was killed in a car crash that left two other people injured on Thursday night in Lynnwood.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened in the area of State Route 525 and 148th Street at around 8 p.m.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies were chasing a suspect of domestic violence assault and the kidnapping of a 34-year-old woman.

The suspect, a 37-year-old Kenmore man, started driving the wrong way on State Route 525 and the authorities aborted the chase.

A short time later the suspect collided head-on with a northbound GMC Yukon driven by Slanger.

Slanger was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The 34-year-old woman was taken to Providence Medical Center in Everett with unspecified injuries.

The suspect sustained major injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

WSP said the suspect was found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and will face multiple charges including vehicular assault, DUI and second-degree murder.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
