Twitter announced NFT profile picture authentication

On Friday, Twitter revealed a new mechanism for users to verify their profile photographs using non-fungible tokens (NFTs). That is news for NFT users who have been using jpeg photographs of their digital assets as profile photos. Users may now link any NFT they possess to their Twitter account. Twitter will display NFT profile images with a new hexagon-shaped mask as evidence.

The microblogging network has finally established an official verification process for NFT profile images, following months of expectation.

It isn’t the first time crypto aficionados have used NFTs as Twitter profile images. For example, Eminem, a well-known rap musician, recently updated his profile image to a BAYC NFT that he owns. However, there has been some doubt regarding the long-term viability of “ownership” of these digital goods.

Sure, you could use an ape NFT as your profile photo, but what’s to stop someone else from right-clicking the image and making it their own? And who knows if you own the NFT?

Users who possess an NFT will now get a new hexagonal border on their profile image, which Twitter updates indefinitely. Even if a nefarious right-clicker tries to utilize your NFT as their profile picture without first purchasing it, they’ll be able to do so. They will, however, be limited to the traditional circle frame.

A crypto wallet is required to obtain an NFT profile image. Tokens owned by your public wallet address can be held and traded in crypto wallets. NFTs, a sort of token, are included in this. To create an NFT profile image, link your Twitter account to a crypto wallet to the NFT you want to use.

If you already have an NFT profile image and want to use one from a different wallet, all you have to do is connect the new wallet to your Twitter account. That may get done under ‘Edit profile’ in your Settings. Select ‘Use another wallet’ from your profile photo. When you see an NFT profile photo, you may visit the profile to learn more about the NFT.

The feature is currently live only for iOS users. It may come to Android, later on, however, there is no confirmation on the same as of now. Twitter users will need to have a Twitter Blue certification to link and authenticate their NFTs.
