Bakersfield, California: Authorities said the 8-year-old boy who was struck by a car Wednesday afternoon in Bakersfield died from his injuries while receiving treatment.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the boy died Friday morning at Valley Children’s Hospital, where he was being treated after the crash that happened around 1:44 p.m. near Bank Street and Holtby Road.
Police said the boy was walking eastbound in an unmarked crosswalk when he was hit by a car driven by a woman.
The driver stayed at the scene after the accident.
Speed and impairment were not believed to be contributing factors.

Bakersfield, California: An 8-year-old boy was severely injured after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon near Roosevelt Elementary School in Central Bakersfield.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the accident occurred around 1:44 p.m. on Holtby Road and Bank Street.
Authorities said the boy was walking at the intersection when he was hit by a vehicle.
A video of the crash from a neighbor showed the boy walking into the corner as the driver of the car stopped at a stop sign on Holtby Road. The driver then accelerated and struck the boy.
The child was taken to Kern Medical in critical condition.
Speed and impairment are not believed to be contributing factors.
