Update: Man Killed in Bicycle Crash on Highway 46 in Buttonwillow Identified

Buttonwillow, California: 57-year-old Donaciano Bustamante Aldama of Lost Hills died after he was hit by a car Saturday morning while riding a bicycle in Buttonwillow.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place around 5:40 a.m. on Highway 46, east of Lost Hills Road.

Authorities said the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado truck was traveling westbound on the highway behind Aldama who was riding a bicycle within the right asphalt shoulder.

The driver steered the car directly toward the rider and hit the back of the bicycle with the front of the car.

Aldama was ejected from the bike and died.

The victim was wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the accident.

An investigation is ongoing.

The accident happened around 5:44 a.m. at Highway 46 and Lost Hills Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A pickup truck reportedly collided with a bicyclist in unclear circumstances.

One person was killed in the accident.

The name of the deceased person was not immediately disclosed.
