Update: Medical Examiner Identifies Man Killed in Long Beach Accident

Long Beach, California: The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man who died Tuesday morning in a crash that happened at a Long Beach intersection as Sovan Koy, 35, of Los Angeles.

The wreck took place around 7:35 a.m. at Wardlow Road and Palo Verde Avenue.

Authorities said Koy was driving a 2002 Toyota Sequoia east on Wardlow Road when he failed to stop at a red light at Palo Verde Avenue and collided with a 2014 Toyota Tundra driven southbound on Palo Verde on a green light by a 41-year-old Lakewood woman.

Koy was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene.

Long Beach, California: A 35-year-old Los Angeles man died in a two-vehicle collision that happened Tuesday morning at an intersection in east Long Beach.

The Long Beach Police Department said the accident occurred around 7:35 a.m. at Wardlow Road and Palo Verde Avenue.

Investigators said a 2002 Toyota SUV was traveling eastbound on Wardlow Road when it ran a red light at Palo Verde Avenue and collided with a 2014 Toyota pickup truck heading southbound on Palo Verde on a green light.

The force of the impact caused the SUV to roll over and eject the driver.

The Los Angeles man died at the crash scene.

The 41-year-old Lakewood woman driving the pickup truck stopped and cooperated with investigators.

Police said speed and distracted driving contributed to the collision.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.

The wreck was reported to authorities around 5:22 p.m. near Highway 395.

One of the vehicles involved was a Subaru.

One person sustained major injuries, including a possible broken finger.

The family of a pregnant woman involved in the crash went to the scene and took her to the hospital as a precaution.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Azusa, California: The California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly car accident that happened Thursday afternoon on State Route 39 in Azusa.

The accident occurred around 5 p.m. about a mile south of East Fork Road.

A gray Honda Accord and a black SUV were involved in the crash.

Several people were able to get out of the cars, but one person was reportedly trapped inside the wreckage.

Azusa police and other emergency personnel responded to the scene.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:35 p.m.

Details about if the other parties involved were injured or the extent of their injuries were not provided.

CHP officers are investigating the crash.
