Valencia Woman Killed in Car Wreck on Highway 126 near Fillmore

Fillmore, California: An early Friday afternoon Fillmore collision involving two cars left a woman dead and another hospitalized with serious injuries.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at around 12:02 p.m. during rainy weather and wet road surface.

A 2014 Dodge Durango SUV and a 2017 Honda Civic were involved in the accident on Highway 126 just east of Pyle Road.

CHP said a 30-year-old Santa Paula woman was driving the Durango eastbound on the highway when her SUV spun out of control and hit the front driver’s side of the Civic. The impact was similar to a T-bone crash, officers said.

The Civic stopped in traffic lanes after the crash, and the Durango overturned onto its side on an embankment.

The Civic was traveling westbound on the highway at the time of the collision with a 48-year-old Valencia woman behind the wheel.

Police said both drivers got trapped in their vehicles.

Emergency personnel pronounced the Valencia woman dead at the scene.

The Santa Paula woman was taken to Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries, but she is expected to survive.

CHP said drugs or alcohol were not considered factors in the accident.

The highway remained closed for nearly three hours as authorities investigated.
